Over the past year, we noticed a gap in our process—and it was on us.
Beachside was built for high-level design: fully custom layouts, material direction, lighting plans, and the kind of details that turn a garage into a showpiece. But we weren’t accounting well enough for a different (very common) type of client: the homeowner who doesn’t need a full design package on day one—but does need expert eyes, real-world guidance, and a clear plan.
Because here’s the truth: there is a massive amount of value in making a space feel better, flow better, and function better—even without high-level design direction. Sometimes the win is simply knowing what to move, what to keep, what to prepare for (MEP-wise), and what upgrades actually matter.
So we rebuilt our pathway to make it more flexible and more transparent—without discounting our standards. And importantly: each step flows into the next, so your investment is never wasted. If you need more support later, we simply build on what we’ve already done.
Start Here (Optional): Free Gym Build Estimator for Homeowners (Beta Version)
Before you even reach out, feel free to use our free Gym Build Estimator to get a ballpark sense of what it typically costs to create a home gym—based on your space, goals, and upgrade level.

It’s a fast way to set expectations, compare options, and come into a discovery call with a clearer budget range in mind.
The Beachside Planning Path
Step 1: Discovery Call — Complimentary
A quick call to assess fit and feasibility. We’ll cover:
Your goals and timeline constraints
Current space + constraints at a high level
Budget expectations (so we can guide you responsibly)
Whether your project is best served by planning, design, build—or all three
Best for: Homeowners who want to sanity-check feasibility and understand the best next step.
Step 2: Consultation — $500 (Virtual or In-Person)
This is the same consultation—two ways to do it:
Virtual: via Build Bar (perfect for anywhere)
In-person: for local clients in SD / OC / LA
This consult is designed to create clarity fast. We’ll identify real-world constraints like:
MEP limitations (electrical / plumbing / HVAC realities)
Ceiling heights, clearances, and access points
Site conditions that could create issues or added costs
Practical layout direction for equipment + recovery tools
Deliverables (what you’ll walk away with):
Recommended layout options (strategic guidance, not a finalized plan)
General guidance on equipment types and zone planning
Clarity on what needs to happen construction-wise to prepare the space
Important note: This step does not include an official 2D layout. It’s intentionally a consult—not a full design deliverable.
Credit applied: If you move forward into Build Ready Planning, your $500 consultation is automatically applied (Build Ready Planning begins with a paid consult).
Step 3: Build Ready Planning — $2,500 (or $2,000 if you started with the Consultation)
This is the “do the legwork” phase—where we turn your questions into numbers and a straightforward plan.
We’ll determine:
How your existing equipment can fit better (and what small upgrades matter most)
What construction/remodel work is required to make the gym viable
What it will realistically cost to execute that work
Examples of common scope items:
Electrical upgrades (sauna / cold plunge circuits, lighting, outlets)
HVAC improvements (mini-split additions, ventilation)
Moving water heaters or mechanical equipment
Garage door upgrades, entry doors, windows
Flooring prep, concrete work, insulation, drywall, moisture control
Added bathroom/shower, plumbing runs, drains
Detached shed / wellness suite builds, ADUs, and more
Pricing:
$2,500 if you go straight into Build Ready Planning
$2,000 if you start with the $500 Consultation (consult fee applies)
What this is (and isn’t):
Build Ready Planning is about function and feasibility—not design direction. Clients choose what they want; we execute the construction and implementation.
If you want curated aesthetics, layout optimization at a deeper level, and a cohesive look/feel, that’s the next step.
Step 4: Gym Design & Layout — $5,000
This is where we shift from “can we do it?” to “let’s make it exceptional.”
We focus on flow, feel, and function—so the space drives motivation and consistency. This includes:
A true 2D layout built to scale with equipment models
Equipment mix strategy for maximum ROI (“bang for your buck”)
Intentional details that elevate the space:
water fill stations
wall clocks, mirrors, art, and storage
TV positioning + sightlines
flooring type + transitions
lighting design and layered ambiance
finish direction, colors, and more
Step 5: 3D Renders + Virtual Reality Walkthroughs — $2,500 (Optional Add-On)
If you want visual confirmation before construction begins, we offer:
High-quality 3D renders
VR walkthrough clips so you can feel the space before it exists
